Introduction

The Trust is a registered Charity and promotes the identification, protection and conservation of heritage in the Whanganui, Rangitikei and Waimarino areas. We run a number visits to heritage places for our members, actively submit to Councils and government on legislation affecting heritage and run events including Whanganui Heritage Month, Awards and Blue Plaques.

The Trust also provides oversight of the Kawana Mill and Cameron Blockhouse, both early examples of pioneer buildings in the region.

Whanganui has one of the highest concentrations of heritage buildings in the CBD and boasts New Zealand’s most complete range of architectural styles.
