Historic Places Aotearoa (HPA) is pleased to announce the Christchurch Civic Trust has formally decided to support Historic Places Aotearoa by becoming an Associate Member.

"Historic Places Aotearoa welcomes our new Associate Member, the Christchurch Civic Trust.

"The Christchurch Civic Trust has a long history in campaigning for Heritage retention so we are appreciative of their decision to become a HPA Associate Member.

"The Christchurch Civic Trust joins the the Auckland Civic Trust and Timaru Civic Trust as Associate Members. This strengthens HPA's task of building an independent, nationwide, network of voices for Our Heritage.

Ross Gray Chair Christchurch Civic Trust:
"The Christchurch Civic Trust recognises the need for an independent voice for Heritage. By becoming an Associate Member, we are supportive of HPA becoming a strong nationwide advocate for Heritage.

"Whilst the Christchurch Civic Trust is well known for its involvement in Urban Planning issues and campaigns, we have a long history in campaigning for our city's heritage - The Arts Centre, Mona Vale and lately McLean's Mansion are just a few examples. Joining HPA as an Associate Member relates to all our Heritage activities.

"The Christchurch Civic Trust has worked on a number of local campaigns with Historic Places Canterbury, so it makes sense we would support their parent body, Historic Places Aotearoa.

Mark Gerrard Chair Historic Places Canterbury:
"The Christchurch Civic Trust has a long distinguished history in Urban Planing and campaigning for the retention of Christchurch's heritage. We see it as an honour they have chosen to support HPA by becoming an Associate Member.

"Historic Places Canterbury has partnered with the Christchurch Civic Trust in a number of local campaigns so we are appreciative, they are recognising our national organisation HPA."

Background:
Historic Places Aotearoa is made up of Membership Organisations who are independent but federated to HPA.

The Associate Membership is for groups who wish to recognise and support HPA.
